Not dead....

Mon Jun 23, 2008, 7:16 PM
...but quite possibly undead.

Mostly I'm posting because I'm tired of seeing something dated 2007 on my main page.

Playing Crisis Core. It's a mixed bag of heart stopping nostalgia and horrible, horrible dialog. I never knew Aeris was supposed to be RETARDED. "Incomplete sentences? Yes! Omit words!" It is pain to my ears.

Tseng made out rather well, as has Cloud, at least so far. Sephiroth did well until the Nibelheim scene, where he revealed that he was also retarded. Genesis took away all the fun surprises by introducing human experimentation and the notion that SOLDIER = Monster so early in the game that the only way Sephiroth could possibly be surprised by his back-story was if he was indeed mentally challenged. Or had been bludgeoned with a brick to the head immediately following the aforementioned revelations. Sephiroth: "You mean all my 1st Class SOLDIER buddies were products of human experimentation? Well, clearly. But my crazy super powers by no means put me in the same boat. This silver hair is completely natural 100% homo-sapien baby!"

You know, his mom Lucrecia was only filling the Shinra Science Department's prerequisite for female employees to get knocked up for fetal experimentation. All the ladies have to do it. Really, it's right there in the fine print. Guys get it easy. They just have to take their chances with Hojo's coffee. Sometimes it glows... and communicates in binary. I've heard it's hell on one's digestion.

Oh, and Vincent almost had a cameo as the 5th Wonder of Nibelheim (because we eat, drink, and breathe, sidequests!) "Bloodcurdling moans" in the basement indeed. Vincent, you really need to cut back on all that moaning... it'll wake the neighbors.

Other than that, and a few hundred other little painful details, Crisis Core is nice. The music in Aeris's church is beautiful. Zack is modeled perfectly. And Midgar never looked so good. Except in that FFVII Tech demo. Holy lust-monkeys, that looked good. Pity the story has been f-ed with a chainsaw in all the compellation material. I don't think they could put the original plot back together if they tried. There's too much J-pop and idiocy mixed in with all the broken pieces.

Ah well... if you're Jonesing after some FF7, play the original game.

:::End Rant:::

Things of interest:

Clubs! Because FF7 stuff is cool:

The FF7 Magic the Gathering Card Project has moved because deviantart was silly and deleted all of altairabove's cards.

Artists I have commissioned and recommend:

:iconevaldas: did this beautiful dragonfly painting for me. She's also done a wonderful quail family painting for me, but I don't think she's posted it yet... If you like her style, she's got prints and she does commissions. I'm especially fond of her birds, and of what I've seen of her insects.

Of course I remember you :)

Glad to see you're still around the internet supplying the world with FF7/Vincent fanstuffs.

I'm a little surprised anyone still remembers me... what with my lack of posting and all.

Your name is permanently etched into my brain because you gave me that translation to Pieta! Actually I've been making a few posts lately about the similarities between Pieta and DoC and other parts of the new canon stuff, so it's been even fresher in my mind. My website is in a bit of disrepair but my fandom is very much still alive!

A shame that ff7-doc forum bit the dust, too. There were some good topics on there.

I'm quite happy the Pieta translation could be shared with others. It's very cool of you to host so many FF7 comics, fics, and art (not to mention taking the time to scan the doujinshi in!)

It is sad the ff7-doc forum died, though there was some sliding quality issues towards the end with more general posts than serious discussions. Still, some of the old threads had great debates. I'm glad you're still involved in forum discussions on FF7 topics... I might just have to stop by the lifestream sometime. Though forums are dangerous time stealers for me. I find I run into this problem: [link]

Rofl, that comic is QFT. And summarily saved to my hard drive for all eternity.

TLS does have its share of general discussion, but it still maintains a community of people who are willing to put serious thought into good FF7-related topics. Honestly, it's the good topics that are harder to come by than the people willing to discuss them. But with it also being the center of a lot of translations and such, discussion can be generated easily enough if anyone wants to put the thought into it.

I just run into the problem of being the only one who wants to discuss Vincent and/or Lucrecia 24/7. :crying:

Sorry that I couldn't make it during Spring Break!! It was so chaotic and all the activities that my mother planned were at night and I really wanted to be able to spend some time with you both! Good luck and continued joy with your preparations! I will be emailing and submitting on DA more often so hopefully we can stay more in touch. Send me that first draft of your story ANYTIME! I love to read other peeps stories and don't mind, if you think me worthy, to play editor. ^^

We're both sorry you couldn't make it, but I understand the nature of family obligations. I hope we get a chance to see you soon. The first draft of book one will hopefully be done by the end of April. I appreciate your enthusiasm for the RPG! You will get a copy as soon as it's done. I know I'll appreciate the feedback.
